Color Points

Analogous colors (those next to each other on the color wheel) relax while contrasting colors energize and invigorate

Types of color schemes:

A warm scheme--choose colors from the warm side of the color wheel from red-violet to yellow

A cool scheme--choose colors from the cool side of the color wheel from blue-violet to yellow-green

A contrasting scheme--choose colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel, like purple and yellow or blue and orange. There are several variations of this scheme

Analogous Scheme--choose colors that are next to each other on the color wheel like blue-violet, purple, and red-violet

A monochromatic (single color) scheme--choose tints and tones of one color

A neutral scheme--choose a scheme using white, black, gray, brown, beige and cream from snow white to wheat
